Of particular note: Max Groznik took first place in a large field of 68 impromptu competitors. Also, Shannon and Joel went 3-0 in parli prelims and missed breaking by one point (on the strength of opponent, which split the speaker points tie between Shannon/Joel and Max/Ammas).

*Unfortunately, the tournament tabulation desk misrecorded a second-round win as a second-round loss, causing Joel and Chris to not break. The tournament director has apologized, and is mailing an award, but nothing can be done in terms of placement. It is impossible to determine if they could have placed higher than quarterfinalist.

Of particular note was the fact that LOHS broke 3 out of 4 of its competing Varsity Parliamentary debate teams (and, if you read the asterisk above, it should have broken them all), with the one team that didn’t break being the one including both of the parli debaters that won speaking awards. The combined record of the parli squad for this tournament was 17-3 in prelims.
